Pair veggies with dips, sauces to get kids to eat them

A study found that flavour-pairing can get kids to eat more veggies

Have a picky eater who doesn't like veggies? Try pairing veggies with dips and sauce. A study from the University of Arizona found that preschoolers ate Brussel sprouts with cream cheese and liked it, consuming more of the vegetable. And the same kids even ate the Brussel sprouts later on when they were served plain. "This has the potential to change the eating habits of children, including eating more vegetables, and this in turn will affect childhood obesity," said Arizona State University's psychologist and the study's lead author Elizabeth Capaldi-Phillips in a report. With the flavour-pairing technique, the study found that children need to try the new vegetables only seven times to be able to be able to eat them plain. To read full story, go here.
