Par Sophie! brand chocolate raspberry mousse cake recalled
Federal agency says dessert sold in Quebec may contain norovirus
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has updated a recall of various raspberry mousse cakes issued last week to include Par Sophie! brand chocolate raspberry mousse cake sold in Quebec, over concerns it may contain norovirus.
The agency says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. There was, however, an unspecified number of illnesses associated with the Aug. 16 recall.
People with norovirus illness usually develop symptoms of gastroenteritis within 24 to 48 hours, but symptoms can start as early as 12 hours after exposure.
The main symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach cramps. Other symptoms may include low-grade fever, headache, chills, muscle aches and fatigue.
