Longo’s has expanded its store count with the opening of a new location in Vaughan, Ont., just north of Toronto.

Located in a big box development at 67 Colossus Drive, the new store’s neighbours include a Costco warehouse and a Giant Tiger.

“Vaughan is an incredible community that Longo’s has been a part of ever since we opened our original Woodbridge store back in 1991,” Jesse Longo, the company’s business relationship manager told guests at the store’s grand opening on Thursday (Feb. 27) morning. “Since then, we have moved our head office into the city and we have opened four other stores, including this one.”

At 25,000 square feet, Longo’s Colossus is a full-shop grocery store offering, packed with fresh goods including an abundant produce department and a range of meal solutions. Among the store’s features: a stone-oven pizza and gourmet sandwich program, in-store sushi counter, a Pronto Eats (heat-and-eat meals) section and market-style bakery with Italian treats (a nod to the grocery chain’s roots) as well as a selection of beer and wine.

Deb Craven, Longo’s president was on hand to thank the teams for—from customer experience, construction, HR, IT, health and safety—for bringing the store to life. A special shout out was given to the merchandising team “I can’t even talk about how much work they’ve done to make sure we’ve got the most amazing products in the store,” said Craven. “And that will continue to evolve as our guests make suggestions about what they would like to see in the store.”
