Little more than a year after announcing its plans to open a store in Toronto, Nature’s Emporium is entering the market with a 25,000-sq.-ft. space in the city’s South Core business district.
Located on the second floor of the One York Street mixed-use development at the bustling intersection of York and Harbour, Nature’s Emporium’s first urban location will celebrate its grand opening with a bread-breaking ceremony on Sept. 7.
Canadian Grocer got a sneak peek of the new store, which is geared towards active and health-conscious consumers living and working in the surrounding area. For instance, a major focus of the new location is the wellness bar offering smoothies and hand-crafted signature drinks, and the supplements section, which is positioned in the centre store.
“The supplement department, we really brought it to the forefront,” explained Nature’s Emporium’s chief executive officer Joe D'Addario, during an interview with Canadian Grocer. “At the other stores we have it’s off to the side, [but] we wanted to focus on our vitamins, health and beauty and supplements. It’s a younger demographic, more the millennials, that’s the kind of thing they’re interested in.”
The family-run health food market, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this November, also has locations in Newmarket, Maple, Burlington and Woodbridge, Ont.
A one-stop shop, Nature’s Emporium new urban location also boasts a prepared food section with a wide assortment of meals to meet a range of dietary and lifestyle needs, in addition to organic produce, meat and seafood, dairy and dairy alternatives, snacks, pet care and eco-friendly household products.
