PHOTO GALLERY: Toonies for Tummies hosts largest-ever breakfast event in Toronto
The Grocery Foundation held its largest-ever Toonies for Tummies breakfast event this morning (Feb. 1).
Ninety volunteers from across the campaign’s community of retailers and sponsors partners were present at Saint Augustine Catholic School in North York.
Among those in attendance were Sobeys' Mohit Grover, Metro's Joe Fusco and Ray Hepworth, Maple Leaf Foods' Scott Lorimer, Deb Craven of Longo's and Giancarlo Trimarchi of Vince's Market, to name a few.
More than 500 elementary students were served a healthy breakfast prepared by grocery industry leaders.
The Toronto event follows an event last week in British Columbia with upcoming events planned in Calgary and Pictou County, N.S. in the coming weeks.
This year’s campaign has welcomed Calgary Co-op and many new sponsors to the community that are currently supporting over 3,000 student nutrition programs in Western Canada, Ontario, and Atlantic Canada.
The goal is to raise $4 million across 1,500 stores.
Many retailer campaigns are currently underway with this morning’s event ushering in the start of the Metro, Food Basics and Independent campaigns.
