PlantX is letting customers get their vegan groceries in a flash.
The company sells more than 5,000 plant-based grocery items on its e-commerce platforms in Canada and the U.S., at Plantx.com and Plantx.ca. Now, PlantX has added same-day delivery to customers in Toronto and Ottawa through third-party apps such as Instacart, Uber Eats, Skip the Dishes and Door Dash.
Orders will be fulfilled at PlantX’s store-within-a-store concepts at two Hudson’s Bay locations: Yorkdale Mall in Toronto and CF Rideau Centre in Ottawa.
“We’re always going to be an e-commerce and technology company: it’s at the core of everything we do and why [the company] was started,” said Alex Hoffman, chief marketing officer at Plant X, in an interview with Canadian Grocer. “We started to open up retail locations as distribution hubs so that we can better and faster serve our customers throughout North America.”
PlantX also has two flagship stores, called XMarket, in Squamish, B.C. and San Diego.
“One of PlantX’s core goals is to make a plant-based lifestyle accessible to all, which is why we are proud to expand on our commitment of making plant-based shopping easier for our Canadian customers,” said PlantX founder Sean Dollinger in a press release. “By offering consumers trusted same-day delivery options, we build on our legacy of excellent customer service and our goal of becoming the one-stop-shop for everything plant-based in Canada and globally.”
Plant X’s vegan product assortment includes dry goods, frozen and refrigerated categories, as well as prepared meals. The company has plans underway to expand into cosmetics, clothing, and its own water brand.
