6/26/2013

The call for entries has just been issued for the 2014 Product of the Year Canada awards.

Any product launched between Jan. 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013 can be entered.

Product of the Year is the world’s largest consumer-voted awards program for product innovation. Awards are given out in 32 countries, including Canada, the U.S., Brazil, Italy, the U.K. and India.

This is the fifth year for Product of the Year in Canada. The program is a partnership between Rogers Media (which owns Canadian Grocer) and U.K.-based Product of the Year.

“All around the globe people are asking themselves the same thing–how do I know which products to buy when there are so many to choose from?" said Mike Nolan, global CEO of Product of the Year.

"Our program helps consumers to instantly recognize what their peers found to be top-notch,” Nolan added.

Entries to the awards follow a two-step judging process. First, a jury of industry experts goes over the products to make sure they meet the award program’s criteria for innovation.

Next, consumers get to vote on which products they think are truly innovative. Their votes determine the winners.

Product entries are judged on four criteria: product satisfaction; product innovation; product appeal; and intent to purchase

Winning products are allowed to carry the distinctive red-coloured Product of the Year seal.
