RCC recognizes Sobeys, Walmart, Loblaw and Farm Boy

Organization reveals winners of 2026 Excellence in Retailing Awards

The Retail Council of Canada (RCC) announced the 12 winners of its 2026 Excellence in Retailing Awards during a gala on Tuesday (June 2).

Held as part of the RCCSTORE 2026 conference, the gala recognized retailers and individuals for their contributions to the industry.

"The ERA winners represent the best of what Canadian retail has to offer; those retailers who are investing in innovation, reimagining the customer experience, and setting the standard for the industry," said Kim Furlong, president and CEO, Retail Council of Canada, in a statement. "Nights like this matter. This is the sector coming together to recognize the companies executing at the highest level."

The 2026 Excellence in Retailing Awards winners include:

Sobeys (Environmental Leadership)
Walmart Canada (In-Store Merchandising)
Loblaw Companies Ltd. (Loss Prevention)
Farm Boy (Philanthropic Leadership)

Deb Craven, president of Longo’s, and Alex Miller, president and CEO of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., were also recognized as two of this year’s Awards of Distinction recipients.

Among the sixteen students awarded Retail Education Scholarships in recognition of their commitment to building a career in retail, five received an additional $5,000 specialty award, including David MacRae of George Brown Polytechnic (sponsored by Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd.) and Yonadab Sameer, York University (sponsored by RCC).
