Friends, family and colleagues from across the retail industry turned out to celebrate the career of the Retail Council of Canada's (RCC) Diane J. Brisebois in Toronto last night.

Earlier this year, Brisebois announced she would be retiring from her role as president and CEO of RCC, a post she has held since 1995.

"I want to personally thank you all for being here," Brisebois said in brief but heartfelt remarks to those gathered for the sendoff at St. George's Golf and Country Club. "You need to know how much this means to me."

Widely respected, Brisebois has been a fierce advocate for retail and during her tenure she is credited with elevating RCC and establishing it as the voice of retail in Canada. She is also hailed for her skill in navigating industry upheavals, championing forward-thinking policy and building powerful alliances between retailers, government and communities across the country.

Brisebois will be leaving RCC at the end of the month and will be succeeded by Kim Furlong.
