Regal Confections has acquired Quebec-based Mondoux Confectionery, maker of the Sweet Sixteen gummy line and Giacomo Easter chocolate range.

Mondoux’s 90,000 square-foot facility in Laval, Que. houses the company’s head office and co-packing operation. Nearby, it operates the 22,000 square-foot Giacomo chocolate factory.

The company’s president, Mathieu Pilon, will continue in his role and will lead the company as a separate entity. Former president Jean Mondoux is joining Regal's board.

"Confectionery Mondoux and the Mondoux family have a long and well-earned reputation in the industry. This family-owned business has a rich culture and legacy. Over the years, we've been a friendly competitor and supplier to Mondoux. They've carved an enviable market niche in convenience and gas, especially in Quebec. In fact, many of our own products distributed in the Quebec C&G channel are sold through Mondoux's franchise delivery model. Sweet Sixteen is a true complement to our product range and allows us to deepen our presence in the everyday confectionery category across Canada," said Hani Basile, president and CEO of Regal.

The deal is Regal’s most recent acquisition, having previously purchased Tosuta International in 2021 and Kisko—maker of the Mr. Freeze brand—in 2022.

Regal is an importer, manufacturer and distributor of chocolate and candy in Canada.
