Don’t underestimate the power of an old fashioned sandwich.
Research firm Technomic has a released an update of its Canadian Sandwich Consumer Trend Report, meant to help people in food service and retail understand the latest behaviours, preferences and attitudes of consumers regarding sandwiches.
According to the report, 35% of consumers eat a sandwich at least every other day, and 94% of consumers eat at last one sandwich per week. The reports says consumers place higher importance on the quality of the meat, bread, cheese and condiments of their sandwiches in the past year, with quality often tied to health
At least 40% of these sandwiches are made at home (the remainder being taken to go, or grab-and-go sandwiches).
