The cart, created by Acorn Intelligence, a Lithuanian start-up tech company, not only can scan products but it customers will also be able to pay using the cart.
Edvinas Baublys, the founder Acorn Intelligence likened the invention to a cash register on wheels in a report.
One obstacle in the smartcart's way into retail stores is that products will have to use electronic labels instead of barcodes that can be scanned by radio frequency.
Baublys estimated that the cart could be in stores in two to five years.
