Simon Cairns appointed CEO of Freshlocal Solutions

Freshlocal Solutions Inc. has appointed Simon Cairns as its chief executive officer. Cairns is currently president of the company’s Food-X Technologies division.

Cairns replaces outgoing CEO Peter van Stolk, who will remain on the company’s board.

Cairns joined Food-X Technologies in September. He has more than two decades of experience in design, development, and sales of SaaS-based e-commerce platforms. Prior to joining Food X Technologies, Cairns was chief executive officer and general manager at PNI Media—a provider of retail technology.

"On behalf of the board and the company, we are excited that Simon has agreed to lead Freshlocal through its development as a valued solutions provider in the global grocery market," said Freshlocal's board chair D. Neil McDonnell, in a press release.

"Simon's success in leading organizations that provide innovative e-commerce solutions to some of the world's largest retailers will immediately benefit the Company and its shareholders. The board would like to thank Peter for his many contributions to Freshlocal," he added.

The news of Cairns’ appointment comes as the Vancouver-based company delivered its full-year 2021 earnings. Freshlocal reported $132.8 million in revenue, a year-over-year increase of $25.2 million, or 23.4%.
