Sobeys, Loblaw promote treats for backyard grillers
Just in time for the May 24th weekend, Sobeys and Loblaw have launched summer-themed foods with a twist.
Sobeys, which is promoting backyard grilling in its most recent Inspired magazine, has launched a Korean-style beef burger under its Compliments private-label brand.
Meanwhile, Loblaw’s unveiled several new President’s Choice products, including a spicy tzatziki yogurt dip.
Loblaw has also expanded its President’s Choice ice-cream lineup by five flavours: Peanut Butter and Chocolate, Strawberry Shortcake, Pralines and Cream, Pink Lemonade and Dark Chocolate.
There are now 19 flavours of President’s Choice ice cream–a lineup that was given prominent end-aisle space last summer inside Loblaw's stores.
To promote its barbecue and ice cream products to shoppers, Loblaw has begun what it calls the President’s Choice Summer Tour. A barbecue trailer (photo above) and ice cream truck will stop by 170 Loblaw stores over the summer.
Customers will be able to sit down at picnic tables in the parking lot and sample President’s Choice products, a company spokesperson explained.
Loblaw also has a campaign on Facebook to build the world’s tallest virtual ice cream cone. The company will donate one dollar to the President’s Choice Children’s Charity for every scoop added to the cone, to a maximum of $50,000.
