Sobeys names corporate affairs director

Bernard Doucet has been named director of corporate affairs for Sobeys.

He will be based in Stellarton, N.S., and report to Andrew Walker, VP communications and corporate affairs at Sobeys.

"For the past four years he served as director of institutional advancement for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia where amongst other things, he played an instrumental role in the growth and development of the Sobey Art Award," said Walker.

The Sobey Art Award is a $50,000 annual prize given to an artist under 40.

The gallery  has close ties to Sobeys as the late Frank H. Sobey was a collector of Canadian art. The Sobey Art Foundation also carries on his work.

Prior to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Doucet held a variety of positions in communications and marketing consulting,  banking and the Senate of Canada
