What: The online grocer has created two recipes-- DIY Apple Pie and Rescued Banana Smoothie--to be made using imperfect fruit purchased through its website.
All the proceeds raised from the sale of the imperfect fruit in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland will be donated to the Food Stash Foundation, an organization that reduces the environmental impact of food waste and helps feed those facing food insecurity.
“For us it is the most natural way to help our communities, through food. It’s the center of our universe,” said Helena McShane, sustainability manager at SPUD.ca, in a press release.
