Starbucks offers loyalty members more ways to pay

One of the leading and most influential retail loyalty programs is getting an upgrade.

Starting this fall, company-operated Starbucks stores in Canada and the U.S. will offer more payment options for Starbucks rewards members.

Members will have the option to scan their app or card to collect their points and then pay with cash, credit/debit cards, or select mobile wallets. Members can continue to pay through their Starbucks app if they so choose.

“Our customers have shared with us that they would like more options to pay and earn Stars in the app as a Starbucks Rewards member, in addition to the Starbucks Card,” said Brady Brewer, Starbucks chief marketing officer. “We expect the expansion of payment options will appeal to an even wider customer audience and deepen engagement with our members.”

Starbucks Rewards has about 20 million members.
