Target Canada names president
After all the recent hoopla about American mega-retailer Target entering Canada, the company has just announced its president of Target Canada.
Tony Fisher is stepping into the role and will spearhead the day-to-day operations of Target's expansion into Canada.
He'll also be responsible for building the team and establishing the headquarters, according to a company release.
Fisher has been with Target since 1999 in various leadership roles. Most recently, he worked on the company's efforts to improve shoppers' in-store experience using technological advances and process enhancements as VP of merchandise operations.
Target chief marketing officer and executive committee sponsor of Target Canada, Michael Francis, commented on Fisher's knowledge of Target's merchandising strategy and brand. Francis added, “
Minneapolis-based Target announced last week that it has acquired leasehold interests in up to 220 sites from Zellers and plans to open 100 to 150 Target stores across Canada beginning in 2013.
