Target named Mobile Retailer of the Year

The cheap-chic retailer wins the award for its ability to blur the lines between channels

After its data breach affecting 40 million customers, Target ended the year on a high note, winning the 2013 Mobile Retailer of the Year at the Mobile Commerce Awards.

The awards honour outstanding work in mobile commerce for retailers, financial services firms and marketers. Target also won the award in 2010.

Statistics showed Target was the most-browsed retailer in the second half of 2013, taking over from Walmart.

The cheap-chic retailer has been able to tailor strategies for social and mobile.  For its "My Kind of Holiday" campaign, for example there were time-sensitive deals on apps and on Cartwheel–an app that allows users to share deals with Facebook friends.
