For tea, a hot tipping point approaches

The relaxing beverage is catching on as a drink and in some foods, too

Even in a 24/7 world, we all need to take a moment.

No wonder then that tea, with its calming, soothing aura, is so popular now.

Consumption is on the rise, and tea is taking up more shelf space in supermarkets. Meanwhile, tea shops, like Teavana, are popping up in malls and downtowns.

Next up: How about tea as a regular food ingredient, such as in ice creams, and spinoffs like vegetable teas? In an interesting twist, some tea brands are including bits of fruit or chocolate in tea bags.

"Expect tea to be more visible on supermarket shelves this year,” surmises the website Facts, Figures & the Future.
