More than ever, Tesco is also blurring the lines between the real and virtual world by going beyond e-commerce to bring the internet into the store.
It's doing that via mobile apps, in-store kiosks, and its new Hudl tablet.
Another example of physical meeting the virtual world is through the blinkbox service at Tesco. Customers can buy a movie at a Tesco, then at the cash, a digital version of the movie goes into the customer's online account.
What's next? The grocer is testing augmented reality that would allow the customer to view products in 3D on their smartphones.
