Association of Canada has announced Christian Bourbonnière, executive vice-president and Quebec division head at Metro; Tom Barlow, former president and CEO at Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers; and Cheryl Smith, former general manager at Parmalat Canada will receive this year’s Golden Pencil Award.
The Golden Pencil is the grocery industry’s highest honour for lifetime achievement. Bourbonnière, Smith and Barlow will receive their awards Nov. 19 in Toronto.
Last year’s winners were Mary Dalimonte, former senior vice-president of merchandising and commercial programs at Sobeys, and Tom Gunter, former executive vice-president and general manager at Fiera Foods Company.
Other winners include Michael McCain of Maple Leaf Foods, Vince Scorniaenchi of Fortino, Gus Longo of Longo Brothers and Eric La Flèche of Metro.
Prior to the ceremony is Canadian Grocer’s annual Thought Leadership conference, which will feature trends, insights and some of Canada’s top grocery leaders.
Both the Thought Leadership Conference and the Golden Pencil Awards are held Nov. 19, in Toronto at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.
