Metro is making a sizeable donation in support of its community partners during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Quebec-based grocery company, whose banners Metro, Metro Plus, Super C and Food Basics, is committing $1 million to what it called long-time community partners.
Metro is giving $500,000 to Feed Ontario and Food Banks of Québec, and $500,000 to Centraide/ United Way's emergency fund.
In a press release, Metro said the donation would help with food insecurity and other essential services including eldercare and mental health support.
This donation is in addition to the grocer's support of Food Banks of Québec major fundraising campaign, which is co-chaired by Metro president and CEO Eric La Flèche.
