T&T Supermarkets is heading into the Chinese New Year with a new service.
Loblaw’s Asian specialty grocery chain launched e-commerce on Monday. Delivery is available to "most Canadian cities," according to a press release, while bakery and prepared food items ordered online can be picked up in store.
“The new platform will provide customers a seamless shopping experience in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese,” said Jennifer Mei, director of e-commerce at T&T Supermarkets. “It will also offer a variety of payment options such as WeChat Pay and Alipay and real-time online chat services to ensure the smoothest online shopping experience.”
According to T&T's website, deliveries will only be made during the week, and orders will take three to five days to fill. Shipping fees vary by province and weight of the order. (Click here to view T&T's shipping policy.)
T&T's e-commerce launch "means more people across Canada will have access to our unique product offering,” said Tina Lee, CEO of T&T Supermarkets. “And just in time to send friends and family gifts to celebrate Chinese New Year, which falls on January 25th this year.”
T&T announced its plans for e-grocery shortly before it closed the doors to its only downtown Toronto store. The 41,000-sq.-ft. space was located in the city’s Port Lands district, which is in the beginning stages of a major transformation.
Founded in 1993 in Vancouver by Cindy and Jack Lee, today T&T operates 27 stores across British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. The chain was bought by Loblaw in 2009.
