Weston family, Pattison, Coutu make Forbes billionaires list
Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the richest people
in the world, and five Canadians across the grocery/pharmacy and food manufacturing industries earned a spot.
Familiar faces including Galen Weston and family, Jim Pattison and Jean Coutu made the billionaires list, which included 45 Canadians in all. According to Forbes, the list is a snapshot of "wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from February 8, 2019. Some people become richer or poorer within days of publication."
The five Canadians in the grocery/pharmacy/food industries that made Forbes’ annual list include:
#174--Galen Weston and family ($8.4 billion)
#272--Jim Pattison ($6 billion)
#343--Emanuele Saputo and family ($5.1 billion)
#568--Alain Bouchard ($3.7 billion)
#962--Jean Coutu ($2.4 billion)
