Vancouver-based package-free grocery store, Nada Grocery, is closing its storefront May 1 due to rent increases and rising costs.

“The math simply doesn't add up to continue operating our physical space,” Brianne Miller (one of Canadian Grocer's 2021 Generation Next winners) and the Nada team said in a statement shared to Instagram. “To better serve our customers, to keep pricing as accessible as possible and to adapt to the current challenges facing the food industry, we are pivoting our focus to our circular delivery model.”

Shoppers can still order online via nadagrocery.com for delivery, or pick-up their orders at Nada’s warehouse in Olympic Village at 69 West 3rd Ave from Monday to Friday between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The grocer is also discounting its Nada’s Own line of products for the time being, as its warehouse is not licensed for food production.

“Most of our inventory will return to our warehouse, where we will use it to fulfill your online orders. Some select products are available at discounted prices,” Nada Grocery shared on Instagram. “None of it will go to waste. Food waste is our enemy!”
