Walmart Canada's sustainability manager talks about the retailer's work on waste



Since Walmart Canada first started on its path to environmental sustainability in 2005, the retail giant has made great strides towards achieving its ambitious goals related to responsible sourcing, energy efficiency and waste reduction.

Confronted with the reality that the world currently generates 3.5 million tons of solid waste each day (a staggering figure that is climbing rapidly and is expected to reach six million tons per day by 2025) the retailer continues to work to find new ways to reuse, reduce and recycle.

Andrew Telfer, sustainability manager for Walmart Canada talks about the company’s considerable progress on diverting waste from landfill and what it will take to achieve zero waste to landfill.
