Walmart investing $300M in Alberta to open new stores, modernize existing locations

The three new Walmart Supercentres will be located in Fort McMurray, Calgary and Edmonton.

Walmart is investing $300 million in Alberta over the next two years to open three new Supercentres and modernize several additional stores.

The three new Supercentres in Fort McMurray, Calgary and Edmonton will be around 140,000 square feet each and are slated to open between 2026 and 2027.

Walmart’s relocated Fort McMurray store—located at N Parsons Gateway & Parsons Access Road—will offer a full food and general merchandise assortment, as well as pickup and delivery.

The new Calgary Taza Walmart Supercentre will be located at Glenmore Trail SW & Tsuut’ina Parkway, and the Edmonton Southwest Walmart Supercentre will be located at Heritage Valley Trail SW & Chappelle Road.

More than 60% of Walmart’s existing Alberta footprint has been modernized since 2017.
