Walmart launches online Sustainability Leaders shop

Retail giant Walmart thinks consumers shouldn’t have to choose between affordability and sustainability when purchasing products so it has launched a new online shop to help.

The new Sustainability Leaders portal on walmart.com aims to help consumers easily find and purchase goods that are made in an environmentally and socially responsible way. Goods ranging from cookies to laptops are available on the site and are clearly identified by a green “made by Sustainability Leaders” badge.

The new online shop is the customer-facing iteration of Walmart’s Sustainability Index, launched in 2009 in collaboration with The Sustainability Consortium (TSC), an independent third-party organization of academic-based scientists.
