Walmart Supercentre to open in Ontario's Kawartha Lakes region

Walmart Canada is coming to Kawartha Lakes.

The retailer said it plans to open a new Supercentre in Lindsay, Ont. in 2028.

Spanning 142,000 square feet, the Walmart will anchor the SmartCentres development at Highway 35 and Sylvester Drive.

Offerings will include a full grocery assortment of fresh produce, meat and seafood, deli foods, baked goods, dairy products, frozen foods and pantry essentials; Walmart’s full general merchandise assortment; and a Walmart pharmacy and Vision Centre.

Shoppers will be able to place orders for pickup and delivery via Walmart+.

“We’re incredibly excited to finally bring a Walmart Supercentre to Lindsay,” said Paula Bonner, vice-president, format development, Walmart Canada, in a press release. “We know people in the community have been asking for a Walmart, and we’ve heard them. We can’t wait to open our doors and give customers more choice, greater convenience and access to our everyday low prices, including on fresh groceries.”

The new store is part of Walmart Canada’s $6.5 billion investment to expand its store and supply chain footprint across the country.

The Lindsay Walmart Supercentre marks the fifth new Supercentre planned for Ontario as part of that investment. 

Walmart’s Lime Ridge Supercentre in Hamilton, Ont. will open this fall. Three additional Ontario Supercentres have already been announced in Brampton, London and Ottawa.
