Whole Foods looks to cash in on Amazon Prime Day

Deals at the organic grocery store chain start days before the annual sales event
7/11/2018

After announcing it was bringing its annual Prime Day discount holiday to Whole Foods July 16, Amazon has upped the savings to include money back and deep discounts on popular products purchased at the organic grocery chain.

Prime members who spend $10 at Whole Foods starting July 11 through to the end of Amazon Prime Day--which is six hours longer than last year's event and will include product launches--will receive a $10 credit to use during Prime Day, the company said in a press release. Members can redeem their $10 by scanning the Prime Code in their Whole Foods Market or Amazon app upon check out.

And, Prime members who have not yet tried grocery delivery from Whole Foods via Prime Now will receive $10 off their order when they shop before July 17, and will get $10 to use towards a future order.

The grocery chain is also offering deals on such items as organic strawberries, boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios and boneless chicken breasts.

Prime Day, created by Amazon in 2015 to mark its 20th anniversary, brings in revenue and helps boost its Prime memberships. It had more sign-ups during 2017’s event than any other day in the company’s history, Amazon said at the time, without providing specific numbers.
