The finalists for the Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards have been named.
A total of 121 products made the short list in the 29th edition of the Retail Council of Canada’s annual award. The products making the cut were launched in the Canadian market in 2021 and come from both established and new suppliers as well as smaller boutiques and family-owned retailers from across the country.
This year’s jury consisted of 34 food and grocery experts who judged the entries based on innovation, taste, texture, consumer value and packaging. To become a finalist, a product had to receive a score of at least 70%.
“It’s exciting to see brands introducing new packaged goods products in Canada are listening to Canadian consumers” said RCC president and CEO Diane J. Brisebois, in a press release. “We hear from retailers, restaurateurs, and food influencers that Canadians are looking for ways to recreate restaurant-like meals at home while also looking for healthier plant-based options, and more environmentally friendly packaging. And that is what we are seeing in many of this year’s finalists.”
Winners will be announced during an in-person gala held June 1. Here is the full list of 2021 Grand Prix finalists:
