VP Logistics and Distribution, Quebec

How did you get your start in the grocery business?

By chance, I ventured into the grocery business 25 years ago when I seized an opportunity in logistics at Metro. From the very beginning, I realized it was a fast-paced industry, and I knew immediately that it was the right fit for me. The speed, dynamism, and the constant challenges resonated with my energy and drive. It's a field that keeps you on your toes, and that dynamic environment is incredibly motivating.

What keeps you passionate about your work?

My role allows me to see tangible results on a daily basis while also contributing to the long-term strategic vision of the company. Witnessing the immediate impact of our efforts and driving long-term strategic initiatives to shape the future of distribution is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, I thrive on the teamwork and collaboration with various department. The synergy and collective drive are powerful motivators for me.

What is the best career advice you ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is to know and master the operations thoroughly so you can anticipate and understand the impacts of your actions and decisions. This deep understanding allows me to challenge and coach my team effectively, ensuring successful execution and delivering results. When you have a comprehensive grasp of what you do and all that it entails, you're always a step ahead.

How to describe your leadership style?

My colleagues would tell you that I challenge both myself and my team constantly. Improvement is rooted in the desire to get better. We’re all in the same boat, and it requires everyone’s collaboration. Ask my team, and they’ll say I set ambitious goals while ensuring they have the necessary resources to achieve them. I’m available, accessible, and I provide constructive feedback. When things don’t go as planned, I’m there to offer support and guidance.

I take immense pride in watching my team grow. Many colleagues have earned and continue to earn promotions within the company. Developing my team is a crucial aspect of my role, and I find great satisfaction in their achievements and progress.

Proudest career moment?

Overcoming the challenges of the pandemic stands out as my proudest career moment. Successfully serving our customers despite numerous human challenges and supply chain disruptions was no small feat. Ensuring the safety of our employees, who had to continue working onsite without the option of remote work, was a critical achievement. More recently, I'm incredibly proud of the successful opening of our $420 million Fresh and Frozen automated distribution centre in Terrebonne, Que., and all the transitions related to the project. We are well positioned to better meet customer expectations now and in the future.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work:

I love spending my time outside of work with my family, mostly enjoying outdoor activities. In the winter, you’ll find us skiing and during the summer, we’re on the water, whether it’s fishing, sailing or surfing. These activities allow us to connect with nature and create lasting memories together.
