2026 Star Women in Grocery Award Winner Angela Bridge (Q&A)
Angela Bridge
Canada S&T Deployment Lead
PepsiCo Canada
How did you get your start in the CPG business?
I joined Hostess Frito-Lay in 2002 after spending six years in Deloitte Consulting’s technology practice. I joined as sales and marketing IT manager, with responsibility for modernizing our reporting systems and advancing our direct store delivery technology. I thought I would miss the fast pace of consulting, but I quickly grew to love the connection to the consumer, the variety of projects and the opportunity to see the long-term impact of my work. As it turns out, the pace has been just as exciting, if not more so!
What do you like most about your job?
I love the opportunity to innovate alongside the business, particularly in the digital space. As a global company, we deploy many corporate systems but what excites me most is local innovation—whether that’s installing optical quality controls, monitoring production lines with IoT sensors, equipping our front line with AI-suggested orders or delivering advanced insights into the needs of Canadian consumers and customers.
What career accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’m very proud of the work my team has done to build and advance the digital skills of our employees. We’ve used bootcamps, hackathons and digital showcases to educate, train and connect Canadian employees to local business opportunities. For example, we launched a citizen developer program focused on robotic process automation, hosted hackathons centred on analytics tools and recently introduced bootcamps on core AI skills. By activating these initiatives locally, we’ve increased adoption and stayed agile in response to the rapid pace of technological advancements.
What’s a decision you made that has significantly shaped your career path?
Raising my hand to represent Canada on North American and global projects. Those experiences have broadened my appreciation for the complexity of large-scale initiatives, expanded my network, grew my leadership skills and advanced both my technical skills and business acumen.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I love spending time in nature, especially hiking and cycling. It’s how I unplug, recharge and stay active. Living along the Don River in Toronto gives me easy access to some amazing cycling trails. I also enjoy exploring the city with my daughters—trying local restaurants, browsing neighbourhood shops and discovering unique hidden gems along the way.
What is a fun fact about you?
I love cooking and I make a mean barbecue rib sauce. I’m also experimenting with Thai cuisine and trying to pefect my pad Thai recipe—it’s not as easy as it looks!
Anything else you'd like to add?
I have a strong passion for supporting women in STEM and fostering mentorship and inspiring young women in our community to see the power and potential of STEM. I've been involved with local schools and non-profits to encourage high school students to recognize the value of staying engaged in STEM. This work is a true passion of mine.
