Aaron Campbell to helm LCBO as president and CEO
Aaron Campbell has been tapped as the new president and chief executive of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.
Campbell has led the organization on an interim basis since Feb. 1 following the retirement of George Soleas.
“His deep understanding of the organization, extensive public-service experience, and strong relationships across the industry give the board confidence that he is the right person to lead the LCBO forward,” said Carmine Nigro, chair of the LCBO board of directors, in a press release.
The LCBO said the appointment comes as it continues its “transformation.” The organization is currently undergoing a multi-year program called “Future State Modernization,” focusing on strengthening IT systems, streamlining processes and modernizing operations.
Campbell joined the LCBO in 2017 as chief of staff. He most recently served as chief of staff and vice-president, corporate affairs, strategy and sustainability.
Before joining the organization, he held senior roles with the federal government, including in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada and the Office of the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
He also spent six years in leadership roles with the Toronto International Film Festival.
Campbell currently serves as board chair of Ontario Creates and on the Goodman School of Business Advisory Committee at Brock University. He has also served on the boards of Cota Health and TVO Media Education Group, and is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for service to his community.
