Barry Callebaut, a global manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, is opening a new factory in Canada.

The Zurich-based company earlier this year announced plans to invest US$104 million in the new plant, which will include chocolate processing, as well as office space for corporate operations.

The plant is to be located at 4 Bowery Rd in Brantford, Ont., inside the Northwest Industrial Park. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Sept. 27.

The new operation will focus on sugar-free, high protein, and other specialty chocolate products.

This is the first new factory for Barry Callebaut in North America since 2008 and is expected to bring more than 200 jobs to Canada.

With annual sales of about $US7.9 billion in fiscal year 2020/21, Barry Callebaut Group has built a reputation for high-quality chocolate and cocoa products.

The company operates more than 60 production facilities worldwide employing more than 13,000 people.
