B.C.'s Fresh St. Market to open new store in Langley
B.C.-based Fresh St. Market is about to open its seventh store in the province.
The grocer is setting up shop in Langley with its Walnut Grove market-concept store on Oct. 22.
Inside, consumers will find local meats and cheese sourced from such farms as Lepp Farms and Golden Ears Cheesecrafters.
Other regional selections include cranberry juice from the Bog Riverside Cranberry Farm and java from Lion’s Bay Coffee Company, to name a few.
A curry bar featuring family recipes from Surrey, B.C.-based Spice Mantra Curries will be a dining feature alongside a fresh sushi bar with daily creations by an in-house sushi chef.
Sustainability is also a key component of the new location.
Customers will find a labelled and accessible compost and recycling area to reduce waste. In addition to in-house food waste composting, the Walnut Grove Fresh St. Market joins other locations in their work with food recovery program, FoodMesh, which diverts surplus food to charitable organizations to be used for meals within the Langley community.
“This destination brings a market-like experience to those who live in and around the Fraser Valley who also enjoy supporting local farmers and producers,” Mark McCurdy, vice president, retail operations and brand strategy, Fresh St. Market, said in a statement. “Langley and neighbouring communities in the Fraser Valley have long been known for rich agricultural produce and food.”
