Colemans' produce manager named one of the best by United Fresh

3/21/2012

Corey Conrad, Colemans' produce manager at the Gardens store in Corner Brook, N.L., was the only Canadian named as a recipient of a United Fresh Retail Produce Manager Award.

He joined Colemans in 1993 and was promoted to the position of produce manager in 2006.

The award will be given out at the United Fresh Produce Association show in Dallas on May 1 and recognizes those on the frontline in supermarkets working everyday to increase sales and produce consumption.

These produce managers have demonstrated the creative energy to make fresh fruits and vegetables shine in their stores. In so many cases, their interactions with consumers influence opinions and purchasing decisions, and have an undeniable impact on our industry,” said Tom Stenzel, president and CEO of United Fresh in a press release.

“We’re fortunate to have these talented retailers as the face of the fresh produce industry.”

The program’s 25 winners were selected from hundreds of nominations submitted by retailers and produce suppliers across the industry in the U.S. and Canada.

Selections were made based on a number of criteria, including efforts to increase produce consumption through everyday excellence in merchandising, special displays and promotions, community service and commitment to total customer satisfaction.

In addition to the awards, five grand prize recipients will receive an additional $1,000 cash prize.
