Costco opened its third Business Centre in Canada on Thursday, as the members-only warehouse club expands the concept nationally.
Located in Gloucester, Ont., a suburb just east of Ottawa, the newest Costco Business Centre is 123, 000 square feet and, according to a press release, has created 140 local jobs.
The Business Centre offers more than 3,200 items--everything from bulk food items to commercial kitchen wares, cleaning supplies and office furniture--targeted at restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores and offices.
Examples include 208-litre drums of olive oil, 3-kilogram containers of cream cheese, 10-kilogram jars of peanut butter, 4-litre bottles of maple syrup and 4.5-kilogram Toblerone chocolate bars.
Costco opened its first Canadian Business Centre in Scarborough, Ont. in 2017, followed by a second location in Saint-Hubert, Que. last fall.
“The Costco Business Centre concept is already a resounding success in the Toronto area, and we look forward to offering the same benefits to businesses in the Ottawa/Gatineau region, which we also hope will bring many new consumers to discover the benefits of a Costco membership,” said Marc-André Bally, vice-president of Business Centres and Ancillary Businesses, Costco Wholesale Canada.
Costco plans to open additional Business Centres across Canada in 2021.
