Costco opens new location in Winnipeg

Costco Wholesale opened a new location in West Winnipeg, located at 4077 Portage Ave. West. 

The new warehouse is a relocation of the St. James location, which served the community for almost 35 years. 

The new over 167,000-square-foot location features wide aisles and includes specialty departments like a fresh sushi bar (the fourth of its kind in Canada), an on-site bakery, fresh meat, produce area, rotisserie chicken section and large food court 

The St. James location is now temporarily closed while it is converted into a Costco Business Centre, slated to open in 2026. The warehouse relocation has created 125 permanent jobs, in addition to the 450 employees from the St. James location.
