Costco reports higher Canadian sales in January

Costco Wholesale Corp. reported net sales of $22.08 billion for the retail month of January as Canadian sales increased 6.2%.

The wholesale club’s overall sales were up 4.5% from $21.13 billion last year.

U.S. sales rose 1.6% and Other International increased 5.1%. E-commerce climbed 21%.

This year’s retail month of January had one less shopping day due to the timing of New Year’s Day. Costco said that had a negative impact on total and comparable sales by approximately 3% to 3.5%.
