Couche-Tard promotes Alex Miller to chief operating officer

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. has upped Alex Miller to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Miller, currently executive vice president of operations, North America and global commercial optimization,  steps into the role on Jan. 2. 

The executive will oversee the company’s North America, Europe and Asia operations, including its food program, merchandise program and supply chain activities. 

Miller will continue to report to president and CEO Brian Hannasch. 

"By bringing together all the operational reporting lines under the chief operating officer, the regional teams can more easily align operations to extract further synergies and learnings at the core of our business,” Hannasch said in a statement. “Alex is uniquely positioned to take on this new role with his impressive leadership experience in convenience and fuel operations as well as his extensive contributions growing the business across all our geographies."

Miller brings more than 25 years of management experience in the retail fuel/convenience store industry to the role, including more than 10 years at Couche-Tard.
