Empire and Tennis Canada appear to be a good match.

Sobeys’ parent has extended its partnership with the tennis association to include naming rights at stadiums in Toronto and Montreal, host cities of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers—one of the sport’s top tournaments.

This August, the women’s tennis event will take place at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto, while the men compete in Montreal at IGA Stadium. As part of the partnership, the Sobeys brand will also be highlighted throughout the stadium including an "in-seat ordering experience in Toronto from Voilà by Sobeys.

And, according to a press release Sobeys will continue to collaborate “on new grassroots programs to support the growth of tennis in Canada and create more opportunities for families to connect on the court.”

It’s partnership with Tennis Canada is part of Empire’s ongoing commitment to food, sports and family, and Sobeys’ brand promise of being “Canada’s Family Grocery Store.” The company is also Team Canada’s official grocer.

"We celebrate Tennis Canada for the tremendous work they do to advance tennis, making it more accessible across Canada. We are proud to be their partner and host both sites of the National Bank Open, in Toronto and Montreal... we know these stadiums create a great opportunity for us to connect with fans, cheer on Canada's champions and fuel the passion for the game," said Erika DeHaas, vice-president of marketing communications at Sobeys Inc., in the release.
