Evok from Cascades is being dubbed by the company as the first polystyrene foam food tray made with 25 per cent recycled material.

The tray is now being used in all Metro, Metro Plus and Super C stores in Quebec.

The tray is used for packaged meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, and fresh fruit.

Luc Langevin, president and COO of Cascades, specialty products group, said in a release that by replacing a quarter of the virgin material it used with recycled material, Cascades reduces greenhouse gas emissions by almost 20 per cent.
