Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee Inc. has tapped former McCain Foods Ltd. executive Danielle Barran as its president and CEO.
Barran succeeds Fred Schaeffer, who previously announced his plans to retire this year.
Most recently, the executive was president of McCain Foods’ North American potato division and Canada.
Prior to McCain, Barran spent 16 years with the J.M. Smucker Company as a VP in multiple business lines, including U.S. retail coffee, where she was responsible for multiple brands as well as the introduction of a single-serve capsule brand to the retail market.
“Danielle is an ideal fit for Mother Parkers. Her proven track record and focus on delivering results, along with experience working in family-owned private companies, gives us confidence that she will lead the company into its next phase of growth and evolution,” Mother Parkers’ owners and co-chairmen Michael Higgins and Paul Higgins Jr. said in a press release.
Barran began her career as a financial analyst at General Mills Canada and PepsiCo/Frito-Lay (formerly Hostess Frito-Lay).
She is a current board member of Pet Valu and The Grocery Foundation.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining a company with such deep Canadian roots and heritage, as well as long-standing partnerships with some of the biggest names in grocery, foodservice and out-of-home channels across North America,” stated Barran. “The tea and coffee business is one that I know well and I look forward to helping Mother Parkers continue to be a market leader.”
