Former Walmart Canada's exec named to U.S. post

Walmart Canada's former chief merchandising officer has been appointed to the same position stateside.

Duncan Mac Naughton will oversee merchandising at 3,700 Walmart stores in the United States. He will report to Walmart U.S. president Bill Simon.

In a statement from the company, Mac Naughton said, ""We intend to make the shopping experience more fun for our customers through increasing promotional intensity by effectively utilizing action alley."

Mac Naughton started at Walmart Canada in 2009. He was named executive vice-president of merchandising for Walmart U.S. in October 2010, where he was responsible for consumables, health and wellness, and Walmart.com.

Before joining Walmart, he worked at Kraft Foods and several American grocery chains: H.E. Butt, Albertson's Inc., and Supervalu, where he was executive vice-president of merchandising and marketing.
