FreshCo to open first stores in Atlantic Canada

FreshCo, Empire Company’s discount chain, is launching in Atlantic Canada with three stores set to open in the Halifax area.

The first two locations are slated to open late this summer in Lower Sackville on Cobequid road and at the Bedford Place Mall. In the fall, a third store will open at the Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth. 

A spokesperson for Empire (parent company of Sobeys) tells Canadian Grocer the openings are part of the company’s plan to enhance its offerings and better serve customers. 

“We look forward to opening our doors on a new format store experience for the region. Customers can expect a bright and welcoming store with fantastic multicultural foods, fresh produce and a broad assortment of products at low prices.”

Empire is headquartered in Stellarton, N.S.
