Japan’s Kirin to acquire Jamieson Wellness for $2.5B

Japanese company Kirin Holdings Company has signed a deal to acquire Canadian vitamin Jamieson Wellness.

The transaction values Jamieson Wellness at around $2.5 billion on an enterprise basis.

"Today marks an exciting new chapter for our Company and for our iconic 104-year-old brand," said Mike Pilato, president and CEO of Jamieson Wellness. "From the beginning, it was clear that Kirin recognizes the importance of our heritage, our people, and our Canadian roots. Just as importantly, they are committed to investing in our brands. As a global C$22 billion leader in beverage, natural health, and consumer health, they bring the expertise, reach, and resources to help take our brands to the next level while preserving what has made Jamieson successful for more than a century.”

Pilato said he believes the transaction represents the “best possible outcome” for Jamieson’s partners, customers and shareholders.

Clinique, AFC Toronto and Canadian Women & Sport team up

Skincare brand Clinique is championing women’s sports with two campaigns, “The Difference is You” and “Unstoppable Together.”

In partnership with AFC Toronto, “The Difference is You” campaign featured six of the women’s pro soccer club’s platers: team captain Nikayla Small, Kaylee Hunter, crowned the Northern Super League's Rookie of the Year last year, midfielder Nyota Katembo, and defenders Zoe Burns, Kaela Hansen and Sarah Rollins.

The campaign, which concluded on July 31, saw the players sport Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick.

Estée Lauder-owned Clinique and retail partners Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart are spreading the message across Canada through digital media and consumer events at select stores.

From July 25th to July 28th, Clinique hosted a pop-up booth at the Toronto Eaton Centre on the 3rd floor Sephora bridge to celebrate the AFC Toronto partnership. In addition to experiencing Black Honey for themselves, visitors could become part of Clinique's "The Difference is You" digital campaign.

A photo installation at the pop-up transformed guests' images into personalized player cards that were added to the booth's digital display.

The campaign culminated with "Almost Lipstick Day" on July 28.

"July 29th is International Lipstick Day but since Black Honey is not quite a lipstick, not quite a gloss and more than a balm, Clinique is declaring July 28th Almost Lipstick Day," said Susy Brown, marketing director, Clinique Canada, in a press release. "Every time a young woman steps onto the pitch, court or track, she builds something more lasting than a winning record: the confidence that defines true beauty. By partnering with AFC Toronto and Canadian Women & Sport, we are empowering young women to feel confident in who they are and what they can achieve."

The second phase of the campaign "Unstoppable Together" runs from Aug 10th to Sept 30th and features the Clinique Moisture Surge™ collection.
