International House of Caviar is recalling its IHOC brand Rainbow Trout Caviar from the marketplace due to concerns that it may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum, the bacterial spores that cause botulism.
The product in question is the 100-gram size of IHOC Rainbow Trout Caviar with a UPC code of 6 28451 22602 4 and a best before date of Aug. 30, 2018.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says this caviar has been sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
According to the CFIA, food contaminated with Clostridium botulinum may not look or smell spoiled, but can still cause sickness.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
