Instacart app launches in ChatGPT
Instacart announced that it is the first grocery partner to launch an app on OpenAI ChatGPT and the first to offer an embedded, end-to-end shopping and Instant Checkout, all within a ChatGPT conversation.
The app integration is designed to assist users with finding what they need from their local retailer(s) and present a ready-to-review cart. Users can also securely pay directly in-app through credit card or digital wallet.

The app will also integrate AI experiences into the Instacart platform itself, including Smart Shop offerings, which will personalize shopping recommendations.
Instacart AI agents draw from more than 1,800 retailers, nearly 100,000 stores and more than 2 billion products across North America. Other features include real-time understanding of product availability and pricing, product recommendations and delivery.

“Powering grocery shopping inside an AI agent requires technology that understands constantly changing, highly local inventory and converts it into accurate, real-time decisions. Instacart’s platform does just that,” said Anirban Kundu, chief technology officer at Instacart, in a press release. “Our decade of unmatched grocery data, fulfillment intelligence, and deep retailer integrations make it possible to surface the right products based on what’s actually in stock -- delivering consumers a shopping experience they can trust.”
The Instacart ChatGPT app experience with Instant Checkout is currently available on desktop and mobile web. The app is available on iOS and Android, with Instant Checkout rolling out to these native platforms in the coming weeks.
